Sensory Integration

Everyday our senses are bombarded with input. Our nervous systems help us filter and respond appropriately to this input. Some children, however, do not process this input efficiently and that is where OT steps in. OT helps your child tolerate a variety of sensory input that they have to process on a daily basis, such as: touch input, noises, tastes and textures, smells, movement, and awareness of their bodies in space. Processing auditory input is also an important daily skills. Through the use of Therapeutic Listening, your child can improve attention, auditory processing, and access multiple sensory areas during fun play activities. Self regulation is also an important skill children need to function everyday. Understanding how they are feeling, how input is making them feel, and how to process and use tools to help them respond effectively can be taught. Tina uses techniques from the Zones of Regulation to help your child learn to self regulate throughout the day.
